This page is a showcase for YOUR work.  I receive many e-mails, showing me your paintings from all over the world and I'd like to feature a few of them in this special Gallery.
TOM K
Tom KTom is a customer of mine from France.  Tom and his wife also provided some extra nibbles for the students recently attending the Darrell Crow Tall Ships seminar.  Tom now has a fair collection of tuitional DVD's to practice his oil painting skills.  He recently attended a painting course at a nearby chateau and kindly e-mailed me his finished project.  This painting really does look like an old master.  Tom, if only you knew how many times I use the 'raqui' (the white enamel pot laying on it's side) to make Turkish Coffee!  My raqui pot is worn and torn and covered in dents and chips......just the way they should be.  Fabulous painting Tom, and I'm lucky enough to have a much larger image of this.
JEAN
jeanbJean has followed my step by step guide to 'Undisturbed Morning' .  I did warn her beforehand to tone down the blue in the lake as I feel, some 2 years later, this is much too strong.  She's made a lovely version of this painting.  She'll be exhibiting in October and is suffering a little stage fright as this will be her first exhibition.  If you'd like to wish her luck - you'll see she's made a posting in my forum  under the title 'HELP'  I'm sure it'll all go well Jean and I'm sure it will be the start of many more.
NORMAN
NormanHere's a lovely atmospheric seascape painted by one of my internet customers, Norman.  He brought his copy of the Seascape/Landscape DVD  by 'Creative Painting' artists Jon & Bon about 18 months ago.  This is the seascape he made just by following Bonita's simple step by step instructions.  The photo, as always, doesn't show clearly the details in this.  You'll have to take my word for it as I am privvy to a much larger version of this, the rocks and boulders are simply stunning, really good knife work.  I just love these tonal seascapes, they are probably my most favourite subject.
CHRISSIE
CHRISSIEI received an e-mail from a customer thrilled that she had been featured on the Creative Catalyst newsletter. Chrissie had entered the Summer 2007 competition.  She says: 'I am so pleased and proud to be amongst so many truly amazing artists, just had to share this with a fellow artist'.  Chrissie's self portrait is called 'Before the Grey':   Before my husband had a liver transplant. Before it failed within a month. Before he had another emergency op. Before his 2nd liver transplant. Before our tango with financial ruin. Before the painful and complicated dance back. Before I aged 10 years in just three. Before my diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. Before I end my Summer and say goodbye to the person I knew then. Before I enter my Autumn, looking different, grey haired, older, wiser, hopeful, grateful and happy to move on with my wonderful future. I take one last glimpse at who I was. Before the grey----------
LIAM
Liam CastleLiam and I enjoyed painting together very recently.  He arrived with a big bag of pictures he had made at home.  Liam loves to draw and paint.  He made me a lovely castle picture at the end of his class with me.  His attention to detail is really quite superb.  His castle has soldiers all over it.  Some with axes, some with bow & arrows, some have swords.  The opposition are armed with a battering ram and a large slingshot - their accomodation is less than glorious though and they have pitched tents amongst the trees.  Liam tells me he loves to draw with his dad.  They make similar scenes together but actually re-inact battles.  They draw pencil lines from the arrows and actually fire at each other - how's that for fun!  Liam's just 6 and a half by the way.
JOHNNY RAMBO
Johnny RamboYes, you are reading the name correctly!  How's this for a mighty mountain?  It's John's largest work so far and is painted on a 20 x 30 John's wife treated him to a painting workshop for his birthday and joined in the fun herself.  They've been painting ever since.  Listen up guys - you really need to consider getting a website together to display (and sell) your work.  Interesting nickname, I'm sure there's a story behind it.  My eldest daughter is known as 'Rocky', but that's another story......
 GEORGE george
George and I have been chatting for some considerable time now.  It's gone beyond the brushes and the paints and we swap family news too.  Recently George sent me about half a dozen photos of some of his work.  They all use wet on wet technique but he really does take things one step further.  For instance, for his grandchildren he'll paint a wonderful moutain and lake scene and add a cartoon dragon in.  It's like Disney meets Bob Ross.  He's painted dolphins leaping from the water and liner boats cruising the seas.  The image I have selected though is very clever, a wet on wet background of  fluffy clouds and moon is accentuated with this stunning flying Pegasus.  Apparently this is his wife's favourite too.
CATHERINE
catgibsonCatherine has developed her painting skills at an incredible speed.  Ages ago she e-mailed me some of her first paintings.  More recently she's sent me another batch and just today I received some more of her floral images.  I just love the beautiful bright background on this bunch of sunflowers.  Catherine tells me she has painted this on 12 x 10 inch canvas paper.  She has started to show other's how to use the wet on wet technique and if I'm not mistaken, we definately have another painting instructor in the making.
 LANA
lanaLana, a US customer of mine, only started painting in February 2006.  She has sent me several photos of her oil paintings for me to see.  I have to say, she doesn't tackle the easiest of subjects and has painted dock scenes, lighthouses and still life.  She's finding the Darrell Crow DVD's to be more than useful for home tuition in her own time.  Here you can see her version of mirror image, which is underpainted in acrylics before laying on an oil wash.
TOM
Blue YellowTom painted Mangrove Oasis with me last year.  Recently he painted his own version of this scene.  This painting is predominantly green, with sap green and yellow being the main colours used.  Instead of having a base coat of sap green he used phthalo blue.  When adding the yellow foliage on top he has created a really deep aqua green, which, in my opinion is a much better tone than the original.  It makes the water look deeper and the reflections look much more natural.  It's hard to believe there's not a single drop of green paint used in this painting, isn't it?  Seeing this painting is actually going change the way I paint this in the future.  Well done Tom.
YVONNE
yvonneusaI discovered this seascape in the Darrell Crow Yahoo Forum and Yvonne has kindly agreed to let me display it here.  Yvonne, from Canada, has been oil painting for just 2 months.  This particular painting 'Storm on the Horizon' took her just over 7 hours to complete over 2 days.  I'm firstly impressed by the way Yvonne has managed to capture a gust of warm wind over the palm tree and I'm secondly impressed by the delicate sea spray and subtle colours used in the eye of the wave.  Well done Yvonne, I look forward to seeing more of your seascapes.
AZIZ
aziz23Here you can see Aziz' pretty Lakeland scene.  We mixed the colours from Peach Dawn and applied them to Lakeland Walk........we added a sun and a few birds and other bits and bobs and this really is a stunning piece of work.  Aziz pays good attention and progresses with his painting very quickly and confidently.  You don't need to explain anything twice - the ideal student in fact.  Not bad for his second painting, is it?
MYSTERY ARTIST !
by the lightMy 'New Day' has inspired someone to paint this lovely blue and silver tonal water scene.  The artist has watched many of you students painting away, he's watched hundreds of evergreens being produced, he's seen countless water lines cut in,  I guess he's just about seen it all.  Totally left to his own devices and without any guidance or instruction from anyone he produced this in one afternoon.  The photo doesn't really show the moon glow.  This was painted on a canvas, first coated with silver gesso.  The silver overtones shine through in several significant areas.  I have to say I'm impressed by what this first timer has learned by just watching others...... well done, you're not just a pretty face.  The first person to guess the artist will receive a £5 discount on any DVD set or painting class.  Answers to ayoub_art@hotmail.com
KAYLEIGH & HER DAD, SHAUN

Shaun came to my 'Winter Pink' class last year.  As a first time oil painter he was inspired by the wonderful effects created by this very simple wet on wet technique.  Shaun has continued to paint at home, often assisted by his pretty little 7 year old daughter, Kayleigh.  Here's 2 paintings, by father and daughter.  Take some time to guess who painted what!  Shaun, she's not just a pretty face, is she!

MR MURKIN
mrmurkinMr Murkin kindly brought some of his paintings along when he visited me during a painting class in January.  Now, anyone that knows me will be aware that I am more than a little anti 'contact paper' paintings.  Mr Murkin, however is most certainly not.  I always feel the paint will bleed a little under the sticky covering.  Mr M really makes an extremely neat job of it.  He showed me a vast array of many shapes he had used and they certainly impressed not only me, but the rest of the class too.  Spookily, I had only just been discussing the contact paper ovals with Jack just minutes before Mr M arrived, his timing was perfect.

PETER
PeterPeter is new at the wet-on-wet technique.  We've had a few chats on the phone about paints, brushes, techniques and the like.  This evening, after another brief chat, Peter sent me some snaps of his paintings and I was quite taken aback.  A cabin isn't the easiest thing in the world to paint, and you can see here he has tackled quite a large one.  His attention to the lay of the land with the snow drifts and the foliage shadows in the snow are really spot on.  Hard to believe he's not been doing this long, isn't it?  Fingers crossed I'll finally get to meet Peter next year.

VAL
valVal was an eager student at the Darrell Crow classes in September.  She actually appears at the end of the Horseridge Mountain DVD which was filmed in the UK.  Val brought along several photo's of landscapes set in Cumbria and Madeira that she'd like to paint and I shall work on those over the Christmas period so we can sit and paint these together.  You can see here Val's version of Lakeland Path.  Set in a fabulous gold ornate frame, this is really going to make someone a wonderful and thoughtful gift.

HELGA
Helga DeeHelga got in touch with me via the free DVD offer.  After a couple of communications we discovered what a small world we live in.  Although Helga lives in Austria, her husband herlads from Suffolk and used to work just a few miles away from my home.  Helga tells me she keeps in touch with events in Suffolk via my website.  I was absolutely impressed when Helga attached a snap of one of her oil paintings using the wet on wet technique.  Amazing that she sent me a typical Suffolk scene the same weekend that I was painting snow covered mountains and log cabins!  For more of Helga's work, which is absolutely stunning, CLICK HERE   My favourite is called Fussweg. If ever you are over here Helga, feel free to drop in for a cuppa, I'm sure we'll have lots to chat about.

JANE
janez2Jane came to me in October.  She stayed in our Apollo Studio for the weekend after making a long trip on public transport all the way from Cardiff to Suffolk.  Jane painted 'Peach Dawn'.  She was parted from her painting for 3 weeks whilst I waited for it to become dry enough to package and forward on to her via courier.  I took a snap of her painting before sending it on to her and Jane is happy for me to show you her end result here.  Jane, incidentally, won't mind me telling you she is in her early 70's.

SILVIA
silviaSilvia, probably one of the busiest ladies on the Internet that I know of.  Her website grows at the speed of light.  Silvia started her Bob Ross adventure with small steps, then ran at a hell-for-leather pace.  She has made a quite unique portrait of her source of inspiration, Bob Ross (boy has that man made a lot of people happy!).  For the story of Silvia's journey and a much larger version of this portrait CLICK HERE - make yourself a coffee before you do so, you could spend some considerable time on her informative website.  Hope to see you soon Silvia and beautiful colours right back atcha :)

CORINNE
corinneHere's a beautiful sea-scape from Corinne in nearby Kent.  Corinne's husband brought her the 9 DVD Landscape set by Darrell Crow.  I think with the inspiration and tips from both Darrell and the Bob Ross shows, she has certainly got the knack of producing some very stunning work.  Corinne sent me snaps of a lake scene and a mountain snowscape too.  It was difficult to select one for the Gallery page here.  3 more paintings Corinne and you will have ample material to start your own website.  Remember, my first website started with 6 paintings and an 'About Me' page 2 years ago.

RENA
renaRena is from the idyllic island of Corfu.  A little while back she purchased a set of the Darrell Crow Landscape DVD's.  She has sent me a snap of her first painting.  I'm firstly impressed that she started with a less than normal shaped canvas, I'm secondly impressed with the light fluffy clouds, she definately has that delicate touch down to a 'T'.  With the e-mails we have exchanged recently, it makes Corfu seem like it's just down the road.  Rena is sure spoilt for choice with landscapes living in such a pretty part of the world.

PHIL
PhilPhil is from Georgia, USA.  Phil is a Darrell Crow fan and he uses the 'wet on wet' technique to produce his own lovely designs.  His colourful seascape, inspired from Polynesian scenes, is a bright and warm painting.  There's some lovely, gentle ripples on the almost still sea.

NEIL
winterhutI 'met' Neil in a roundabout way via the Joy of Painting Bob Ross TV progamme.  Neil has recently sent me a small portfolio of his work which is absolutely stunning.  Neil tells me his family and friends are encouraging him to sell some of his work at a local craft fair.  I don't think he will have any problems selling his landscapes, he pays great attention to detail and really uses his script liner to get some really fine embellishments into his scenes.

JUSTIN
justin200First time for Justin!  It's hard to believe this was Justin's first go at oil painting.  Just following my simple step by step guide he left my class with this absolute masterpiece.  When the painting was popped into a very ornate gilt frame it really took the style of an 'Old Master'.  I understand Justin will be hanging this in his dining room.

What will his dinner guests say when he tells them he painted this himself?  I think the smile says it all..........

JACOB & SAM
Here you can see 2 very proud little lads clutching their first ever oil paintings.  They were under the guidance of their grandad, Bryan, a frequent visitor to this website.   Bryan had decided to tackle a nice little landscape with clouds, trees and a lake.  After watching a Bob Ross programme, Sam, just 6 years old, decided he wanted a waterfall saying  " You just pull the brush across and then pull down".   Simple as that!bryan1bryan2

PAT

patPat is a lady from Australia who was asking questions about liquid white.  She checked out my site and forum and kindly sent me a snap of one of her paintings.....aboriginal boys cooling off in a waterfall.  It just shows how you can adapt this technique and having the boys splashing about playing ball really give that added focus  Pat didn't have the courage to pick up a brush until she suffered a life changing experience.  She is now disabled and she spends a lot of her spare time concentrating and relaxing with oils.

 KERRY

kerry3Kerry has attended 3 of my classes and she has tackled different techniques with utmost confidence.  Here is her version of Mangrove Oasis.  She has really made this painting her own in her unique way.  Kerry has recently been asking about oil painting supplies and products and I wouldn't be suprised if we see some more of her work here soon.....sounds like she is ready to 'fly solo' with oils now.

YVONNE

yvonne2Here's a special painting from Yvonne.  She painted this especially as a present for her husband.  Yvonne is a regular at my classes and she really does have a delicate hand when it comes to adding finer details.  She is happy and confident to do her own thing which really makes her paintings very unique to her.  She has absolute control of the fan brush and uses it in many ways to achieve smashing effects.  One day Yvonne, we'll make a date for that waterfall scene....

MARK T

marktMark has become a frequent visitor to the website.  He has had a go at the Step By Step painting 'Undisturbed Morning'.  I have to say, in my opinion he has made a better job of it.  His lake has subtle colours which sit a lot nicer with the surroundings.  The foreground tree really stands out in a 3D way too.  Well done Mark.  I hope you'll have a go at 'Thinking Place' when I get around to adding it as the 2nd Step By Step Guide .

TRINE
trine200

Trine travelled all the way from Norway to attend one of my painting classes & combined a sighteeing weekend in Constable Country too.  She was my first guest in the Apollo Studio , which is an ideal self contained, independant, self catering accomodation adjoined to the house.   She started her return to Norway just 4 hours after completing the painting class stocked up with enough art supplies to last her a year and a nice Chinese meal to keep her fuelled.  Trine has kept me informed of her painting progress and she has used the techniques learned to develop her own style.  Here's her very first mountain, produced in class.  Trine has subscribed to the blogspot website and more of her work can be seen HERE

BEV
bev1I 'met' Bev via an e-mail enquiry.  She was having problems starting out with oil paints - don't we all!  After a few e-mails I persuaded Bev to take part in Sue's Arty Party, where many more folk could help her with any questions she may have.  That was only a few weeks ago.  Today I received a short e-mail from Bev saying: 'Since joining your forum I have received lots of encouragement, help and advice, so just thought I would share my latest 'masterpiece' with you!!!'  Well, I think you'll all agree this painting is absolutely wonderful and I hope to see a few more of Bev's paintings soon - heck, you'll be having your own online art gallery website soon, thats how I started.................. (wink)  Update:  Bev now has her own website :   BevArt
TED
Ted1Ted, over the last few months has become a rather special internet friend.  His first e-mails to me asked a few questions about painting.  He always apologised for 'bothering' me each time he wrote.  We've gone through several phases together despite the distance. thanks to the internet, e-mail & digital cameras. Ted has become very conversant with Bob Ross and has studied Bob's instructional DVD.  We've selected products together and shared the first stage photos with advice and comments all of which are so gratefully received.  He's made a valuable pen-pal contact here too, who has been helpful and supportive in his painting adventure.  Ted has had some extra  hurdles thrown his way, but he never complains.  It gives me great pleasure to add his first solo attempt to the gallery page.

MARTIN
martincropMartin discovered my classes by searching on the Internet and travels all the way from Northamptonshire.  He came to my first 'Andalucian Lake' class a few months ago and as he left that class he asked about the chances of doing a seascape.  So, the April Subject: 'Midnight Swell' was the result of Martin's request.  Here you can see his lovely seascape - do you know, I don't think I have ever seen anyone ever get such a fine point on their scriptliner brush as he did.

Well done Martin and I hope to see you at another class some time.................

WENDY
wendy
I received the following message in my Guestbook recently:  My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed your beginners art class. We never imagined we could paint at all, let alone taken home a beautiful piece of artwork which other people admire! The class was relaxed, fun and sociable and we look forward to the next session in Stowmarket. By the way, the website looks great!  BUT - where's my picture?!!!

Well Wendy, ya fendi, (thats Arabic for 'My Friend', by the way) - It's here................ :)

LISA
africanbeauty
Lisa is a lady I have 'met' via an art forum.  She is happy to share this image of a watercolour painting, entitled 'African Beauty'  This painting is actually sold but Lisa has many other drawings that can be viewed or even purchased.  Her rates are more than reasonable.  You can see more of her work and a brief bio if you click here   Feel free to comment on her work via this link.  You'll see she also dabbles in digital photography too

....I wonder what this beauty is looking so content about?

FRANCES
francisA little while back I received the following e-mail:  'Hi Sue.  Your step-by-step instructions inspired me to do the attached painting.  Although I did it in acrylics and on box canvas (I'm afraid I don't get on with oils).  I usually paint in watercolours but sometimes like to attempt something different!'

It's absolutely lovely, isn't it!

DINA
dinaphoto
dinapainting
Dina contacted me within weeks of my website launch and we have been online buddies ever since. Dina comes from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Above left you will see a photo I sent to her; above right you will see Dina's painting of the subject.  Dina is a very clever lady on many levels and a nice pen-pal too.

MICHEALA
michealaLittle Micheala - just 14 years old!  After one class with me she decided to 'fly solo' and confidently produced this masterpiece.  Micheala has been greatly encouraged and supported by her parents who have stocked her up with art supplies and given her a space to paint.

Micheala often drops by the house to show me her latest painting.

TERRY
terryportrait
terrysky
Terry is local to Ipswich and discovered by accident by my partner, Alan. Whilst Alan was working on Terry's house, he passed comment on the many paintings on show and was amazed that Terry himself had painted them all. Terry is a shy, modest chap with much talent. His speciality is portraits and I hope to feature some more of his work really soon.

CYNTHIA
cynthia11Cynthia sent me a picture of her oil painting entitled 'The Old Barn'.  She has asked me to critique her paintings as she wondered if she had any talent.  I think we can see for ourselves her eye for colour, lay of the land and attention to detail.  ..............and what a small world too, Cynthia is from neighbouring Essex!

JERRY

jerryJerry is from Ireland.  We've had several e-mail communications and he is relatively new to oil painting.  After some experimentation he sent me a lovely painting to display on this page.  He writes:  'As you know I am just starting and this is my first "real" picture'.  Well Jerry, it's marvellous!

Six months later Jerry now has his own website and more of his work can be viewed on enJoy Painting

MARK
markdoubleA lovely painting here sent to me from Mark.  Mark was after advice on products, he too finds the Bob Ross brand rather high priced.  Like many of us, Mark is painting on a budget.  Hopefully I've given him a few pointers and he will soon find out for himself he can obtain cracking results using other tried and tested brands.  The painting shown here is a double canvas inspired by 'Purple Haze'

DAVY

Waterfalldavydoctor

Here's a couple of Davy's paintings, of which there are many.  Davy kindly gave the painting at the top right to his Doctor and it now hangs in his local surgery.  Davy has been giving painting lessons to his friend Stan.  Davy and I have been long time e-mail buddies as we both have a huge love of Bob Ross.  If you want to know anything about Bob - Davy's your man.

STAN
stan1

stan2

I've deliberately slotted Stan's work in under Davy's paintings.  Davy gave his friend Stan a painting lesson late 2005 and since then Stan has been hooked.  I've had several e-mails from Davy telling me about Stan's exploits and I have to say he sounds a very interesting character.  Stan is retired and it sounds to me that he keeps himself busy with a multitude of hobbies.  He makes digderidoos among other things!  As a special gift to Davy, he once made a miniature oil painting on an easel.  And if I remember rightly, he carves walking sticks too.....

You can see from these photos A) he's been taught well and B) he's a dab hand with a paintbrush with a good eye for lively, bright colour.  Hard to believe he's colour blind, isn't it!
